Jay Edmond Russ, Esq. is a practicing attorney, healthcare arbitrator, entrepreneur, and is the owner of Jonnat Management Corp., the patent owner. He served for more than two decades on the Boards of Directors of EmblemHealth, Group Health Inc. and ConnectiCare, including Chairmanship of both the Compliance Committee and the Nominating/Governance Committee. For twelve years, Mr. Russ was General Counsel to North American Partners in Anesthesia, LLP, the largest anesthesia and pain management practice in the country.

Jonnat Management Corp. is the patents owner with six (6) issued US patents and additional patents-pending on topics directly relevant and related to oeUVre. Jonnat has approved the exclusive use of the patents by oeUVre Management Corp., which is bringing the device to the healthcare market and by oeUVre Leasing, LLC, the device leasing arm of the business.

Jonnat began this important work ten years ago, with the realization that the stethoscope is contaminated most of the time it is used. Its contact surface — the diaphragm and bell— carry the organisms that drive infection. For years, the institutional position lagged the evidence. The stethoscope sat in the “non-critical” category — an item touching skin — with no expectation of between-patient disinfection. The response in the literature grew progressively less patient, culminating in repeated calls to revise the governing guidance. Recent reviews argue for strategies that are genuinely hostile to multi-drug-resistant organisms. They make this point: partial hygiene is theater, reassuring to perform and insufficient in effect. The defensible standard is stethoscope disinfection at the point of care, with the larger goal of simultaneous stethoscope disinfection and hand hygiene as a single coupled act at the point of care.

Design Director

Reed DeWinter is an award-winning industrial designer with 20 years experience researching and developing products for all facets of the human body. A graduate of the acclaimed University of Cincinnati's DAAP program of Industrial Design, Mr. DeWinter worked for a series of consultancies before co-founding Humanfactors Design Works in 2003. As principal industrial designer and project manager, he has helped bring user-centric products to market and develop intellectual property for 2-person startups to multi-national firms, including Stryker Orthopaedics, Philips Healthcare, and Becton Dickinson.
